The SSWC has received notice that our bid for the FY24 Community Violence Intervention and Prevention Initiative grant was unsuccessful. Administered by the Office of Justice Programs’ (OJP) Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), a total of nearly $12 million was granted to six organizations in Hawaii, Colorado, Ohio, New York, California, and Wisconsin.
Funds will go toward “efforts to address gang and gun violence, based on partnerships among community residents, local government agencies, victim service providers, community-based organizations, law enforcement, hospitals, researchers, and other community stakeholders.”
Although we are disappointed to miss out on this opportunity, we are pleased to know that the BJA continues to fund this work throughout the US.
We will keep working and we will try again.
In the meantime, we are so grateful for all of the partnership and tremendous support we received. The work of true violence prevention requires determination, skill, and – most importantly – HEART from countless community members, and we at the SSWC are proud to engage in this work alongside so many gifted and dedicated professionals.
