We are excited to share an important update about the keynote presentation at our upcoming School Safety and Wellness Symposium, taking place August 12–13, 2025.

Kristina Anderson Froling will be our keynote speaker. She is an internationally recognized advocate for school safety, bystander intervention, and active shooter response, bringing extensive experience and leadership to this vital discussion.

As the founder and executive director of the Koshka Foundation for Safe Schools, she leads efforts to prevent violence in schools and workplaces, enhance active shooter preparedness, and support communities in the aftermath of crises. Kristina founded the nonprofit after surviving the 2007 Virginia Tech tragedy, where she was critically injured, having been shot three times—an experience that deeply informs her work and message.

Symposium participants – especially educators, administrators, school resource officers, and first responders – will gain timely, practical insights that address the evolving challenges in school safety. Ms. Froling regularly trains law enforcement, educators, emergency managers, and private-sector professionals across the country.

The NWESD School Safety and Wellness Center (SSWC) is proud to collaborate with Kristina Anderson Froling and the Koshka Foundation not only for this year’s symposium but also as part of a long-term partnership. Together, we are committed to bringing national and international experts in school safety, K–12 threat assessment, and emergency preparedness to support the professional development of educators, first responders, and community partners across our region.

We look forward to learning from Kristina Anderson Froling at the 2025 Symposium and are confident that her expertise will inspire and empower all who attend.

Thank you for your continued support of the School Safety and Wellness Symposium. We look forward to seeing you in August.
