Join us TOMORROW, Friday, September 26 (8–11am) on Zoom for the FREE Compassionate Assessment and Response in Education (C.A.R.E.) Training.

This three-hour course equips school staff with tools for youth suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention. Designed for Washington school psychologists, counselors, nurses, and social workers, the C.A.R.E. curriculum is approved by Washington State PESB (Professional Educators Standard Board) to meet the training requirement for all ESA certificate holders. NWESD 189 has been approved by PESB to provide this training.

Participants will learn how to:

  • Recognize when a student is in psychological distress
  • Use scripts and strategies for effective intervention
  • Support students and families through the referral process—even in resource-limited areas
  • Respond if a school community member dies by suicide
  • Care for themselves while supporting others
  • Apply strategies through real-life scenarios with cultural considerations
