Every adult has a role to play in keeping children safe.
The Lynnwood Police Department is hosting a FREE Adult Workshop on Child Safety on Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Lynnwood Police Department (Lynnwood, WA).
This awareness training will provide adults with practical information about how individuals who sexually abuse children may gain access to children, how grooming behaviors can occur, and how adults and communities can recognize concerning behaviors and strengthen protective boundaries.
The training will also focus on the important role adults can play in becoming a safe and trusted person for children—someone who listens, takes concerns seriously, and helps children understand and practice healthy boundaries.
What You’ll Learn
Participants will gain greater awareness of:
- How perpetrators may seek access to children and build trust within families, schools, and communities
- Common grooming behaviors and tactics used with children and the adults around them
- Warning signs and behaviors that may warrant increased attention
- Ways adults can establish and reinforce safe boundaries with children
- How to create environments where children feel safe speaking up
- How adults can respond supportively when a child shares something concerning
This workshop is designed to increase awareness and give community members information they can use to help create safer environments for children.
