Don’t Miss Events: ADHD and Thrive (Next Week!)

We may only have a few weeks left in the school year (but who’s counting?), and we’re not slowing down just yet! Next week, the NWESD 189 School Safety & Wellness Center is offering two opportunities for educators and school leaders to connect, learn, and strengthen the systems that support safe and healthy schools.

Classroom Design for ADHD with Jenny Bethke

Designed by certified ADHD Coach, Jenny Bethke, with neurodivergent learners in mind, this course explores how intentional classroom design can support executive functioning, regulation, working memory, and independence, especially for students with ADHD.

Participants will learn practical, realistic strategies for using visuals, typography, color, and simple design principles to create calm, functional learning environments that reduce cognitive overload and improve navigation for both students and staff.

This isn’t about creating a “Pinterest-perfect” classroom—it’s about designing spaces that truly work in your favor. Participants will also receive two free K–5 printable regulation posters ready to use in the classroom next fall.

Join us: Wednesday, May 20 12:30-1:30pm on Zoom

Thrive on Thursdays

Join us for the final installment of Thrive on Thursdays for the 2025–26 school year. As summer approaches, schools continue to face significant threat-related behaviors, making this conversation especially timely.

In this session, we’ll take a closer look at realistic threat assessment case examples and explore effective best practices. The discussion will be led by our Threat Assessment Coordinator, Mike Luvera, who will share practical insights to support school safety and response efforts.

Join us: Thursday, May 21

11:00am – 12:00pm on Zoom
