The NWESD 189 School Safety and Wellness Center (SSWC) is proud to recognize and thank Andrea Dixon-Hundredmark, Principal of Weston High School and Director of Student Safety for Arlington Public Schools, for her generosity, collaboration, and partnership in strengthening school safety practices.

In a recent episode of the Association of Washington School Principals’ A Matter of Principals podcast, Andrea shares valuable insights on student success, behavioral threat assessment, and the importance of turning good ideas into meaningful, sustainable practice.

Andrea’s work with Arlington Public Schools includes ANCHOR (Assessment, Needs, Collaboration, Help, and Ongoing Review), a collaborative initiative developed in partnership with NWESD 189 to support school-based threat assessment teams. ANCHOR emphasizes coaching, consultation, and ongoing support so school teams can build confidence, strengthen their practices, and respond to student safety concerns effectively.

This partnership reflects an important principle of our work at NWESD 189: effective school safety requires more than policies and training. It takes collaboration, continued learning, practical implementation, and a willingness to identify gaps and improve systems over time.

Andrea’s leadership reminds us that strong safety systems and strong relationships go hand in hand. We are grateful for her willingness to share her expertise, learn alongside colleagues, and help strengthen the support available to schools and students throughout our region.

Thank you, Andrea and Arlington School District, for your generosity, leadership, and continued partnership with NWESD 189!
